Fitness Trends 2025:  Innovation, Health & Lifestyle

Reformer Pilates, Boxing Fitness, or Social Fitness Events – the fitness trends for 2025 reflect diversity, community, and a sustainable path to a healthy, balanced life. We from Urban Sports Club, Europe’s leading platform for sports and wellness, have analysed the training habits of our members from the past year and share insights with you as studio owners on what will matter most to fitness enthusiasts in 2025.

Germany’s Training Habits in 2024

On average, members trained five times per month – one more session than the previous year – and visited seven partner locations, engaging in four different types of activities. The most popular sport category remained fitness, accounting for 42 % of all bookings, followed by yoga in second place at 13 %. For the first time, indoor cycling ranked third with 7 % of all check-ins. Bouldering and swimming tied for fourth place with 6 %, followed by Pilates at 3 %.

Decoding Member Preferences

What drives members to choose a specific Urban Sports Club partner location? A recent survey reveals that 88 % of members prioritize proximity, while 74 % base their decision on available activities. Additionally, 27 % stated they stick to their favorite partner, and 24 % consider class availability. Trainer quality influences 20 % of decisions, and 15 % are swayed by recommendations from friends.

Patrick Soxhlet, our VP Partner Management, highlights the opportunities this presents for partners: “Our recent survey shows that approximately 79 % of Urban Sports Club members want to try new sports and explore new partner locations – a 10 % increase from the previous year. This curiosity is a fantastic opportunity for our partners to attract exciting new audiences to their studios.”

To support studio owners in embracing the Fitness trends 2025, Urban Sports Club presents the top five recommendations for 2025:

Reformer Pilates

Pilates with the reformer, a specialized machine using spring-based resistance for targeted exercises, is booming. This method provides a full-body workout that strengthens deep muscles and improves core stability. Seven percent of Urban Sports Club members tried Reformer Pilates at least once this year.

Social Fitness Events & Experiences

Whether it’s a thrilling beach volleyball match, group sprints at weekly meetups, or the last burpee in a Hyrox double session, fitness events foster connections, build friendships, and boost motivation. 31 percent of members reported enjoying training with friends, and 36 percent said their Urban Sports Club membership helped them meet new people or make new friends.

Boxing Fitness

Boxing Fitness blends dynamic boxing movements with intense cardio and strength training for a comprehensive full-body workout. Suitable for beginners and pros alike, it enhances endurance, coordination, agility, and mental resilience. Patrick Soxhlet notes: “46.3 % of our members prefer structured class formats, while 29.2 % favor free training. Boxing Fitness classes will greatly benefit from this trend, and we’re excited to launch new partnerships in this category at the start of the year.”
