Updates in Accounting: Introduction of E-Invoicing in Germany

With the implementation of the Growth Opportunities Law (WtcG) and advancing digitalization, a significant change is coming to accounting in Germany: Starting January 1, 2025, electronic invoicing (E-Invoicing) will become available for the B2B sector. This transition aims to make business processes more efficient and sustainable.

⚠️ Please note: This update applies only to partners located in Germany.

What will change in 2025?

E-Invoicing will follow the European Standard EN16931, which defines clear requirements for structuring and transmitting invoice data. Starting on January 1, 2025:

  • Sending E-Invoices: Companies in the B2B sector can send invoices electronically, in compliance with EN16931.
  • Mandatory Acceptance: Businesses and self-employed individuals are required by law to receive and process E-Invoices. This means all companies must ensure they have the technical infrastructure to handle them.

The next steps:

  1. Transition period: For now, you’ll continue receiving invoices in PDF format.
  2. Timely updates: We’ll keep you informed as soon as changes occur or the transition to E-Invoicing begins.
  3. Flexibility: If you already wish to receive E-Invoices, we can provide this option.
